Gail Hallock Cyr, AIA, NCARB
Owner and Principal

Born into the practice of architecture, Gail started working for her architect father, the late Terry Hallock of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, when she was 16 to pay for a new bike; and then she stayed on. After graduation from RI School of Design with a BFA and Bachelor of Architecture, Gail & her father opened a branch office of Hallock Architects in Warren RI in 1983. The office moved to the village of Wickford RI in 1987, to a beautiful example of early American architecture, built in 1788, where it is now. Upon the retirement of Terry, Gail opened her own firm, Gail Hallock Architect Inc. and now specializes in working with families to design their new houses and additions.

Among her passions, travel is perhaps Gail’s favorite. Traveling enables her to see beautiful architecture worldwide, both public and domestic, the interesting details and innovative or traditional designs of which she then shares with her clients in inspirations for the design of their own houses. The beauty of the world around us and concern for the health of the earth has prompted Gail to study, in depth, sustainable architecture and renewable energy sources and how they can economically and aesthetically be brought into her clients’ homes.

  • Fergus
FergusChief Client Relations Officer and Office Manager

Fergus is the newest member of our office, and is growing rapidly into his position here. His charming disposition has become a great asset. His design skills are improving, but as he has still to finish his education, the more elegant dog house designs will have to wait. While he spends quite a lot of time sleeping on the job, his favorite aspect of the job is meeting our clients and making them feel welcome. Always ready for a ball toss or a treat, he has fit in easily with the rest of the team.

Maggie Elson is our wonderful Administrative Assistant who makes sure our office runs smoothly and efficiently. She also updates the social media contact. Maggie is happy to answer any questions and looks forward to working with our clients.

“My clients are an important part of the design process, as they often have fabulous ideas which we use to create a house that they love, are proud of and will live happily in. It is very important to me that my clients feel that our collaboration results in the house they dreamed of building.” - Gail
