Historic Waterfront: Study

Home / / Historic Waterfront: Study

The biggest challenge we had in this project turned into a win-win for the owners and the town. The existing historic house in the front of this property had to remain, and the new house had to be sympathetic, yet different.

This is house is in a V (flood) zone, but luckily the house is high enough on the property that the piers that you would normally see did not have to be as high. This helped to keep the project looking historic and fitting in with the village. Underneath the beautiful, traditional shingle style skin still lies the standard grade beams and piers for a home situated in the flood zone.

The house sits on a bluff overlooking the harbor with absolutely gorgeous views. The owners wanted to take advantage of this by placing large windows, glass doors and porches facing the water. They have framed their views so they are now able to enjoy the beauty that surrounds them for many years to come.
