This Narragansett, Rhode Island home is located in the flood zone.
The entire first floor is in the flood zone and has breakaway walls that are enclosed to look like the first floor of a building. We don’t like buildings on stilts so creating this illusion of a first floor was important to our clients and also creates beautiful curb appeal.
The first floor porch is also part of this illusion, which opens to a nice foyer/mudroom with a staircase and elevator leading to the main living spaces on the second floor. Having the elevator gives our clients the opportunity to age in place and stay in their forever home.
Once you get to the second floor you have a huge open space divided by the elevator to create an alcove for the kitchen and gathering space. Beautiful windows line the waterside wall to enjoy the spectacular views while you dine or entertain with family and friends.
The third floor consists of the master bedroom and guest rooms with scenic views of Bonnet Shores salt pond throughout.
The footprint that was allowed was very small, however all space was fully utilized to maximize interior living space for our clients to enjoy for years to come.
