This beautiful Victorian Stick Style house in Buttonwoods is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
The owners wanted a larger dormer facing toward the water for an Owners Suite and a magnificent view of Narragansett Bay. To do any work on the exterior we needed approval from the RI Historical Preservation and Heritage Commission to ensure that the charm of the original design was retained. We removed the questionable additions from the past 70 years and opened the interior so that the rooms flow through to each other, and retain views of the bay.
The gable 2nd floor addition for the Owners Suite utilized the same details and proportions remaining from the original home, including the decorative brackets defining the distinctive historic look of the 150 year old house. A new side porch creates a welcome space to watch the activity on the bay and the adjacent neighborhood promenade.
